Pico-Balloon Updates

W2IQ-4 was launched on Tuesday at summer camp by middle schoolers in Newport, TN. Both Bill Brown, WB8ELK and Steve Bible, N7HPR were there to assist.  Here we are this morning.

Amateur.SondeHub.org forecasts the float here:

            W8BI-11 and W8BI-12

These were launched during Hamvention in Xenia, Ohio on Saturday May 18, 2024 at approximately 1230p local time, 1630 Zulu. W8BI-11 was tracked on May 23rd near the Beirut, Lebanon airport. And hasn't been spotted again. We presume it's down.  W8BI-12 had circumnavigated the globe once and was 300 miles short of a second lap. It hit a severe thunderstorm over Ottumwa, Iowa this Tuesday June 25th. Two local hams searched for it but did not hear it.

N4TVV-1 launched on Field Day Jun 23, 2024.  Its current location is:

July 4th: It appears we may presume N4TVV-1 is down. The last spotting was just before Tropical Depression Two developed. I remain hopeful, though. You never know.

Welcome to the STEM Amateur Radio Club

where our goal is to generate interest, inspire and motivate young people to discover the wonders of amateur radio. We do this through a wide array of hands-on STEM experiments as we demonstrate what ham radio encompasses. Middle schoolers and high schoolers are also shown opportunities that may await them as licensed amateur operators, all which would otherwise remain unavailable to them. Our intent is not to supplant teachers nor counselors, but to support and supplement them, thereby reinforcing their curriculum. We bring the mysteries and the benefits of this great hobby into the forefront. And through these efforts, we've seen an increase in focus and concentration on the part of each and every student.
